Youth Board of Cyprus is the appropriate semi-governmental organisation for youth affairs in Cyprus. YBC is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education & Culture and was established as a Legal Entity of Public Law in 1994. It’s first Board of Directors was appointed on 2nd June 1994 and ever since YBC offers a variety of opportunities to young people for active participation both in Cyprus and abroad.
YBC has a counseling role mostly and at the same time runs several programs and services for the benefit of young people, such as the European Youth Card. As a counseling body, the Board of Directors of the YBC submits proposals towards the Council of Ministers, in regards to the implementation of youth policy in order to achieve the YBC’s goals, which are:
- the progress and prosperity of all young people of Cyprus,
- the participation of young people and youth organisations in social, economic and cultural development of their society,
- the creative and healthy use of their leisure time and
- the effective dealing with the major issues young people face.
